  • “Lets go invent tomorrow instead of worrying about what happened yesterday.” ~  Steve Jobs.
  • “Going from PayPal, I thought, well, ‘What are some of the other problems that are likely to most affect the future of humanity?’ Not from the perspective, ‘What’s the best way to make money?’ which is okay, but, it was really, ‘What do I think is going to most affect the future of humanity.’” ~ Elon Musk.
  • “I have more respect for the fellow with a single idea who gets there than for the fellow with a thousand ideas who does nothing.” ~ Thomas Edison.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Supply Chain Guru

Apple is known to have one of the top supply chains.  Apple may be the best in Supply Chain.  I have always wondered how it got there.  Will be adding much more to this blog.  Going to get input from our Facebook and LinkedIn communities.

If you read about why Steve Jobs hired Tim Cook seems to be about improving Apple’s supply chain.  I believe Steve Jobs wanted something similar to what Dell did with their just in time (JIT) factories.  Seems that Steve Jobs was a fan of what Michael Dell did with Dell’s supply chain.  Tim Cook was brought in to reduce inventory and make Apple’s supply chain much more agile as well as leaner.  Tim Cook went from Apple’s Chief Procurement Officer and took Steve Jobs place as Apple’s CEO.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Supply Chain guru

Tim Cook joined Apple in 1998 as the Senior VP of World Wide Operations.  Before this Tim Cook was a Supply Chain leader at Compaq.  Tim Cook realized quickly the complexity of Apple’s supply chain and took necessary steps to reduce the complexity.  Tim Cook took the number of strategic suppliers from 100 to 24.  He cut the number of warehouses approximately in half.  He reduced inventory immensely.  Have read various articles where Tim Cook equates inventory to dairy products.  Read somewhere about nobody wants to buy spoiled milk.

Tim Cook Quotes

  • “We care about every worker in our worldwide supply chain… What we will not do – and never have done – is stand still or turn a blind eye to problems in our supply chain. On this you have my word.” ~ Tim Cook, Apple CEO Tim Cook Supply Chain guru :-)
  • Too often people think about intuition as the same as relying on luck or faith. At least as I see it, nothing could be further from the truth. Intuition can tell you, of the doors that are open to you, which one you should walk through. But intuition cannot prepare you for what’s on the other side of that door.” ~ Tim Cook
  • We have to make sure, at Apple, that we stay true to focus, laser focus – we know we can only do great things a few times, only on a few products.” ~ Tim Cook

From Youtube.com
As the retired Chief Operating Officer of Walmart, Don Soderquist is often asked, “How has Walmart done it?” or “What’s the secret?” His response is that there is no secret, no magic formula. In fact, the principles that launched Walmart into unprecedented success are so simple it’s easy to overlook their significance.
Don Soderquist was part of the leadership team that grew the company from $1 billion in sales to $244 billion (the largest company in the world at that time). This video is a rare, inside look at two of the principles that guided one of the greatest businesses of all time.
Okay, so there is one secret after all. Whether your company has one employee or a million, the principles Don shares in this video will dramatically work for you too.

Warren Buffett: Amazon’s Jeff Bezos Changed The World In A Big Way

CEO Videos

  • “The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”  ~ Warren Buffett
  • “Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it’s true. If you hire somebody without [integrity], you really want them to be dumb and lazy.” ~ Warren Buffett
  • “There comes a time when you ought to start doing what you want. Take a job that you love. You will jump out of bed in the morning. I think you are out of your mind if you keep taking jobs that you don’t like because you think it will look good on your resume. Isn’t that a little like saving up sex for your old age?”  ~ Warren Buffett
  • “If you’re in the luckiest one per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.”  ~ Warren Buffett
  • “I insist on a lot of time being spent, almost every day, to just sit and think. That is very uncommon in American business. I read and think. So I do more reading and thinking, and make less impulse decisions than most people in business. I do it because I like this kind of life.”  ~ Warren Buffett

Steve Jobs Think Different

Tribute to Steve Jobs: THINK DIFFERENT.  This video is a tribute to Steve Jobs, remember his contribution to this world forever. Steve Jobs Think Different just goes so well together.

Steve Jobs quotes

  • “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” ~ Steve Jobs, founder of Apple
  • “You can make something big when young that will carry you through life. Look at all the big startups like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. They were all started by very young people who stumbled on something of unseen value. You’ll know it when you hit a home run.”  ~ Steve Wozniak, founder of Apple
  • “My model for business is The Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other’s kind of negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That’s how I see business: great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.” ~ Steve Jobs
  • “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ~ Steve Jobs
  • “Apple has changed every day since I have been here. But the DNA of the company, the thing that makes our heart beat, is a maniacal focus on making the best products in the world. Not good products, or a lot of products, but the absolute best products in the world. In creating these great products we focus on enriching people’s lives – a higher cause for the product.” ~ Tim Cook, CEO of Apple
