World’s first 3D printer housing community.

This 3D-printer housing community is in rural Mexico.  This 3D printer can print a house in 24 hours.  With very little human labor entire housing communities will be built using 3D printers.  This technology will continue to improve and expand what it is able to make.  “3D printing makes houses, manufacturing parts, toys and even human hearts, see the importance of 3D printing?” ~Dave Waters

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, has the potential to significantly change the supply chain in a number of ways. Some of the ways that 3D printing could impact the supply chain include:

  1. Increased customization: 3D printing enables the production of customized products on-demand, which could reduce the need for large inventories and centralized production.
  2. Reduced lead times: 3D printing can produce parts and products much faster than traditional manufacturing methods, reducing lead times for products and increasing responsiveness to customer demand.
  3. Local production: 3D printing allows for the production of goods at or near the point of consumption, which could reduce transportation costs and logistics complexity.
  4. Increased flexibility: With 3D printing, it’s possible to quickly switch between different products or designs, allowing for more flexibility in production and greater responsiveness to changes in customer demand.
  5. Cost savings: 3D printing can significantly reduce the costs of tooling and molds, and the ability to print on-demand can reduce the need for large inventories and warehousing costs.
  6. Sustainability: The use of 3D printing could reduce waste and pollution associated with traditional manufacturing methods, and also reduce the need for transportation of goods.

However, it’s important to note that 3D printing is not yet at a point where it can replace traditional manufacturing for all applications and for bulk production.

3D Printing Quotes

  • “3D printing will massively reduce the cost of certain products as the cost of labor is removed.” ~Peter Diamandis
  • “I’ve been really impressed at some of the investments that I’ve seen in community college and technical schools that are training young people for these jobs in 3D printing and the like.”  ~Hillary Clinton
  • “Manufacturing will be turned upside down as companies are able to keep near zero inventory and print out the parts they need JIT.” ~EverythingSupplyChain.com
  • “3D printing has digitized the entire manufacturing process.”  ~Peter Diamandis
  • “The next episode of 3D printing will involve printing entirely new kinds of materials. Eventually we will print complete products – circuits, motors, and batteries already included. At that point, all bets are off.”  ~Hod Lipson
